This is a blast from my past! Not exactly sure of the year. I do miss the purple and gold this football season!

July

If you have not been to the fire station lately....it is HOT! Miserable is more like it. Therefore, we will NOT meet until August 14th, Tuesday at 6:00. See you then!

Work Day

Our work day was a successful one, even though there were a very few there.

Here are some things we are looking at doing.
  1. Ask the city to paint the walls inside and fix the ceiling in the meeting room.
  2. Get Steve Temple to blow up some of our pictures for the walls.
  3. Ben took a very old picture of the mill (before the new parts were built) to be re-framed.
  4. Begin looking at getting back on the tour.
  5. Have the city look at our water problem (water in bathroom off)
  6. Need someone to help Max get his section together (he just had back surgery).
Please contact our members who are "stray" and encourage them to come back! We need everyone! Invite your friends to join! Our only member requirement is an interest in Alabama City.

Alabama City

Pictures

The Beginning

In 1998, Councilman Ben Reed and a group of interested individuals formed the Alabama City Historical Association and leased the old Alabama City fire station from the City of Gadsden to be used for meetings and for forming a museum.
The purpose of such a club was for collecting, maintaining and preserving the history of Alabama City and its people.
Membership is open to any interested individual who takes on the same interests as the club. Although there are no monetary dues, members are asked for their time. The club meets the second Tuesday of every month.
Tours and field trips are welcome by appointment. For more information, contact Ben Reed (256-546-4762 or Julie Payne 256-546-7720).
